Designed for financiers, policymakers, local impact brokers, and national and subnational governments in Cameroon, this tool clarifies adaptation funding flows and gaps and facilitates inclusive local adaptation by increasing transparency and knowledge on these funding flows.

Climate Adaptation Window

Programme brief:
The Climate Action Window (CAW) 2023 Adaptation Sub-Window by the African Development Fund (ADF) is a climate resilience initiative aimed at Africa’s most climate-vulnerable regions. Launched with a funding pool of $258 million during COP28, the window supports projects that enhance resilience in sectors like agriculture, water management, renewable energy, and infrastructure, primarily in 37 eligible low-income African countries. Projects receive grants ranging from $3 to $5 million, with a focus on adaptation co-financing, technical assistance, and mitigation. Applications for this funding round close in February 2024, with future calls dependent on additional contributions toward a $4 billion target by 2025.

Programme brief:
The Project for Studies and Preparation of a Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Programme aims to improve access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities in rural areas of Cameroon. This initiative will conduct feasibility studies and prepare the groundwork for a comprehensive rural water supply and sanitation programme. The project will focus on enhancing community participation and local governance to ensure sustainable management of water resources. By addressing the urgent need for reliable water supply and sanitation services, the project seeks to improve public health and overall quality of life in rural communities.

Welcome to the Cameroon adaptation finance landscape tool!

This tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of end-2024, using publicly-accessible data.

This first iteration maps international public funding, laying the foundation for future layers and broader replication.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. Built as a living resource, this tool will be updated over time and enriched with additional contributions. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
