Designed for financiers, policymakers, local impact brokers, and national and subnational governments in Cameroon, this tool clarifies adaptation funding flows and gaps and facilitates inclusive local adaptation by increasing transparency and knowledge on these funding flows.

Capacity-building for transparency in NDC implementation in Cameroon

Timeline: 2023 – 2026
Budget: USD 1,597,500

Programme brief:
The Capacity-Building for Transparency in NDC Implementation in Cameroon project (#10446) aims to enhance institutional and technical capacities for implementing the Paris Agreement through improved climate transparency. The project focuses on strengthening the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification system to ensure compliance with the Enhanced Transparency Framework. It will provide technical support, training, and tools to improve data collection and processing related to climate change, thereby enabling informed decision-making. Managed by the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature, and Sustainable Development, implementation began in May 2023 following initial delays.

Promotion of forests, environment and climate (ProFE)

Timeline: Jan 2023 – Apr 2026
Budget: EUR 21,420,000

Programme brief:
The programme focuses on sustainable management of forest ecosystems critical for rural livelihoods and the national economy. It addresses threats such as population growth and illegal activities while enhancing governance in the forestry sector. It aims to promote the principle of “protection through use” by supporting sustainable resource management, developing value chains for non-timber forest products, and improving conditions for efficient wood utilization. Environmental education is also emphasized to foster appreciation for natural resources and promote climate and environmental protection.

Resilience and Sustainability Facility for Cameroon

Timeline: 2024 – 2026

The Resilience and Sustainability Facility for Cameroon aims to enhance the country’s capacity to adapt to climate change and economic shocks, promoting sustainable development. This initiative is designed to strengthen institutional frameworks and improve infrastructure resilience, particularly in vulnerable communities. The facility will support investments in climate-resilient projects while fostering inclusive growth and enhancing social safety nets. Additionally, it aligns with Cameroon’s broader development goals by promoting environmental sustainability and resilience against climate impacts.

Strengthening the country’s capacities for increased resilience and potential mitigation to climate change through agroforestry in the North and Far North regions Cameroon

Welcome to the Cameroon adaptation finance landscape tool!

This tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of end-2024, using publicly-accessible data.

This first iteration maps international public funding, laying the foundation for future layers and broader replication.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. Built as a living resource, this tool will be updated over time and enriched with additional contributions. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
