Programme for integrated development and adaptation to climate change in the Niger Basin (PIDACC/NB)

Timeline: Oct 2018 – Jul 2028
Budget: USD 209,900,000 budget across 9 countries (concessional loan: USD 35,924,000, grant: USD 82,232,000, reimbursable grant: USD 57,774,000, in-kind: USD 23,972,000)

Programme brief:
The programme aims to improve the resilience of populations and ecosystems in the Niger Basin by managing natural resources sustainably. The Niger Basin of the Sahel is one of Africa’s most vulnerable regions to climate change. Over the past six decades, the total annual rainfall has reduced by 20 to 40 percent. Recurrent droughts have resulted in the increasing fragility of ecosystems, and reduced social resilience that disproportionately affects women, children and disabled people in the basin. It addresses these drivers by implementing a series of integrated and comprehensive actions that reduce the silting of the Niger River, improve natural resources management and enhance the population’s ability to adapt to climate change. It also includes some mitigation activities, including through forestry and land use.

Welcome to the Cameroon climate adaptation finance mapping tool!

This tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of end-2024, using publicly-accessible data.

This first iteration maps international public funding, laying the foundation for future layers and broader replication.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. Built as a living resource, this tool will be updated over time and enriched with additional contributions. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
