North Cameroon Ecosystem Project: Towards an Integrated Landscape Approach (EcoNorCam)

Timeline: Sep 2020 – Dec 2024
Budget: EUR 5,000,000 (actual allocation of funds currently unknown).

Project brief:
The “Ecosystem of North Cameroon: Towards an Integrated Landscape Approach” (EcoNorCam) project, implemented from 2021 to 2024, focuses on promoting sustainable land and resource management in the Bénoué National Park and adjacent hunting zones in the North Cameroon region. Funded by the European Union, this initiative aligns with the “Global Climate Change Alliance + (GCCA+)” framework, contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and food security. Implemented by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in collaboration with CED and FODER, the project adopts an integrated landscape approach, balancing the interactions between agriculture, pastoral systems, natural resources, and socio-economic factors. It supports agroforestry practices, enhances wildlife monitoring, and fosters participatory governance to address land use conflicts and promote sustainable livelihoods. EcoNorCam strengthens public-private partnerships and engages local communities to ensure long-term environmental, social, and economic sustainability in the region.

Welcome to the Cameroon climate adaptation finance mapping tool!

This tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of end-2024, using publicly-accessible data.

This first iteration maps international public funding, laying the foundation for future layers and broader replication.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. Built as a living resource, this tool will be updated over time and enriched with additional contributions. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
