Local Governance and Resilient Communities (LG-RCP) – Component 2: Improving Multi-level Governance Framework and the capacity of decentralized entities to deliver services

Timeline: Sep 2022 – Sep 2027
Budget: USD 90,000,000, splited as:
2a: Building multi-level institutional capacity for decentralisation: USD 15,000,000.
2b: Strengthening local capacity for service delivery: USD 30,000,000.
2c: Performance-based grants: USD 45,000,000.

Project brief:
This component will: (i) provide technical assistance to central and local entities to further operationalise the decentralisation agenda at the institutional and policy levels; and (ii) build and strengthen the capacity of the decentralised local authorities to manage resources and to exercise their competencies more effectively and in a participatory and inclusive manner. For sustainability and impact, this component will focus on strengthening the capacity of the decentralised local authorities to prepare, manage and implement projects within the country’s public financial management (FM) system52 and processes, and with consideration of natural hazards and climate-change-related risks. As decentralisation is a long-term, often nonlinear process that requires sustained engagement from multiple partners, this component is building on past and ongoing World Bank interventions, including an assessment of the enabling environment and implementation bottlenecks and the lessons from the multi-donor funded PNDP to target key interventions in the medium-term.

Welcome to the BRIDGE climate adaptation finance mapping tool!

This initial version of the tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource for climate adaptation practitioners, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of 2024.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
