Local Governance and Resilient Communities (LG-RCP) – Component 1: Improved community infrastructures and basic services

Timeline: Sep 2022 – Sep 2027
Budget: USD 180,000,000, splited as:
– Strengthening community capacities: USD 20,000,000.
– Community development support: USD 100,000,000.
– Construction and rehabilitation of intercommunal infrastructure: USD 60,000,000.

Project brief:
This component will support the implementation of activities to support community-led development with an emphasis on the most marginalised and vulnerable communities in conflict-affected and socioeconomically disadvantaged municipalities amongst regions of Far North, North, Adamawa, East, SW, and NW. This component will utilise community-based platforms to support community members to obtain inclusive access to essential social services and basic infrastructure through: (i) strengthening community capacities to identify their needs, including in relation to current and future change impacts; (ii) construction, rehabilitation, and service provision of climate-resilient community infrastructures and (iii) climate resilient construction and rehabilitation of intercommunal infrastructure that facilitates intercommunal interactions and/or benefits multiple municipalities. The National Project Implementation Unit (PIU) will conduct vulnerability assessments at the municipal level in each of the six regions. Data gathered through the assessment will be utilised to target activities at the most socioeconomically vulnerable and FCV-affected municipalities. Data from municipal level spatial vulnerability assessments will be triangulated with data on the climate risks, FCV and security environment, and accessibility of communities, and the resulting information will guide the implementation of the component. The component is expected to support around 70% of municipalities across these regions, accounting for around 132 municipalities.

Welcome to the BRIDGE climate adaptation finance mapping tool!

This initial version of the tool is designed to be a practical, user-friendly resource for climate adaptation practitioners, enhancing the visibility of adaptation finance flows in Cameroon. It maps current and near-term local adaptation programmes and projects in Cameroon, as of 2024.

The tool follows a participatory and iterative approach. We invite collaborators to provide feedback and suggest adjustments and additions to the data.
