About the Project
Local governments are on the frontline of South Africa’s energy transition and integral to ensuring it is successful and leaves no one behind. Despite this, many are not equipped to effectively engage in the transition.
The Just Municipal Embedded Generation Project (2025 -2026), funded by UKPACT and implemented by ICLEI Africa in partnership with the Development Bank of Southern Africa, is tackling this head-on by supporting six South African municipalities in developing solar PV projects and equipping them to prepare for and participate in this rapidly changing sector. This Hub was developed as part of the JMEG project.
