Identify funding sources and mechanisms
Building climate resilience in African cities requires sustained collaboration across sectors, governance levels, and other relevant groups. Establishing a dedicated taskforce brings together government agencies, civil society, civil society organisations, academia, and community representatives to share knowledge, collaboratively identify and coordinate actions, and ensure that interventions are inclusive and sustainable. By fostering collaborative ownership from the start, cities can embed climate adaptation and DRR strategies more effectively into planning and decision making processes.
Goal
Bring together key stakeholders across sectors and governance levels who are committed to seeing the process through from start to finish
Tools
- Map who should be involved (local gov, CSOs, academia, community reps, disaster relief agencies, disaster NGOs, women and youth representatives)
- Develop a participatory and inclusive training on DRR and CCA tailored to these key actors
